My Device
MY DEVICE have just been announced as the winners of NME's Walkman Breaking Bands competition run in conjunction with www.NME.com's 10th anniversary. Over 6000 new artists entered the competition in June of this year with a final shortlist of 20 being announced at the end of August. MY DEVICE were chosen as winners by the erstwhile panel of NME New Bands Editor James Jam, A&R legend Alan McGee, Forward Russia guitarist and Dance To The Radio label boss Whiskas, Bloc Party vocalist Kele and album chart-toppers Kasabian. Not only will the band be extensively featured in the magazine and on the website, they will also open for Kasabian on Tuesday 12th September at the NME.com party at Koko's. Appearing just in time to save your weekend, My Device aren't afraid to stop music in its tracks and make you move your feet, gnash your teeth and get on heat. Brighton three - piece My Device- consisting of Todd (22), Doogle (22) and Russ (22) - release their debut album "Nervous System" on Monday 18th September through Shifty Disco Records. "Nervous System" delivers a frantic half-hour of beautiful racket with a rock hard nutty centre. The video to key album track "I Was Brave Today" is included as a bonus on the album CD. Bibliography

They?re not a virtuoso band, which is cool, because rock'n'roll shouldn?t be about that, it should be about heart an passion and ideas and romance" JAMES JAM, NME New Bands Editor "They've got great potential. The whole democracy of the internet has thrown up so much great new music" ALAN McGEE "with their spiky, imaginative alt-rock and excellent, edgy presentation they're still young n'skinny enough to be real contenders, and, listening to the fierce tunes on this long-awaited full lengther, one is struck by their instinctive mixing of current trendy guitar rock sonics and more classic alternative influences."
